SWAT team, police respond after escapee Thomas Cromwell barricades himself inside Mason hotel

A HOSTAGE situation is allegedly unfolding at a Baymont by Wyndham hotel where a suspect reportedly has a victim barricaded inside.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office just confirmed the subject of the SWAT situation at the Baymont by Wyndham in Mason is River City escapee Thomas Cromwell. River City Correctional Center is not managed by Hamilton County, but HCSO was leading the search.

Cromwell, an inmate at the River City Correctional Center, was one of the individuals who evaded capture early on Monday morning by climbing out of a damaged window.

According to reports, members of the Mason Police Department and the SWAT team are on their way to the location where they will attempt to coax a man out of a hotel room.

According to WLWT reporter Jatara McGee, the hotel’s guests have been ordered to evacuate the building.

McGee also mentioned that it seems as though at least one person is staying inside one of the hotel rooms and “sometimes glancing out the window.”

According to reports, deputies from Hamilton County attempted to arrest a man who was wanted on warrants while he was trapped inside the motel.

“When I turned to look around, I noticed that seven or eight police officers were climbing the stairs, and then I noticed that there were five officers standing by the door. When additional people started coming up the stairs and knocking on doors telling everyone to leave, I got up and started walking out “one of the witnesses stated.

No injuries have been mentioned in any reports.
