The fan who passed away immediately after seeing The Weeknd perform at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on July 14 has been identified as Hugo Sanchez, 32.
According to nearby accounts, he was seated on the escalator rail when he fell. He was taken to the hospital but was confirmed dead shortly after midnight.
Police are looking into the occurrence, however it is thought to have been an accident.
“No foul play suspected,” police informed The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Jammal Ransom, a close friend of Hugo, told FOX3: “Hugo was a fantastic human being. He enjoys traveling. He was a reliable pal.”
Workers at the concert were told, “We know that last night there was a serious accident at the concert and that many of you may be feeling a lot of different things.”
“We care about our employees and want to support them.
“Just to remind you, there are ways to get help when things are hard,”
According to a representative for the venue, the deadly fall is believed to have occurred after the event had already come to an end.
The Weeknd has not yet provided a statement regarding the incident.
His post-concert Instagram message read: “We made it to Philadelphia, at long last. I appreciate your assistance in kicking off the tour.”
Then he added: “All of us had a difficult time last night. Every one of you could be felt. It’s time for a new adventure in New York City!”
