Idaho University murder suspect Bryan Christopher Kohberger arrested in Monroe County, Pennsylvania

Bryan Christopher Kohberger of Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the 28-year-old man arrested in connection with the Idaho University murders.

He was located by investigators in the Pocono Mountains, where a SWAT unit arrested him this morning. The four University of Idaho students’ remains were discovered in an off-campus house more than six weeks prior to the arrest. All of the victims were killed via stabbings.

Bryan Christopher Kohberger, age 28, was taken into custody by the police on Friday and charged in connection with the killings of four University of Idaho students who were found stabbed to death at a rented house close to the university in November.

The suspect was taken into custody early on Friday morning in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, and according to the records that were submitted in the court, he was “awaiting extradition.” He is being held on the basis of an active arrest warrant that was issued by the Moscow Police Department and the Latah County Prosecutor’s Office. The warrant cites first-degree murder as the crime. On the other hand, it is unknown whether or not charges have been brought because the Latah County Prosecutor’s Office has not made the charging documents available to the public.

According to the court records for Monroe County, an extradition hearing for Kohberger has been scheduled for the first of the year 2023.

Kohberger’s arrest is connected to the savage stabbing deaths of four students on November 13. The victims were Kaylee Goncalves, age 21, Madison Mogen, age 21, Xana Kernodle, age 20, and Ethan Chapin, age 20. The deaths occurred on November 13. After news of the crime spread across the country, the investigation into their killings took several weeks, and the authorities followed up on thousands of leads during that time.

Officials from the city of Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, have not yet made any other information on Kohberger, who is a resident of the city, public.

According to information provided to FOX3 by the university, Kohberger graduated from DeSales University with a bachelor’s degree in the year 2020 and a master’s degree in criminal justice in the month of June.

A student at DeSales with the same name participated in a research project that asked people about crimes they had committed and surveyed them about their experiences.

An individual who identified themselves as Kohberger and listed a university email address with the initials “BK” sought participation for the anonymous survey through a post on Reddit that was made in the spring of this year. It is not apparent whether or not Kohberger actually made the post.

The post had a link to the survey, which was taken down from the University website on Friday. The survey asked people how they found their target, what they did when they left, and more questions about their mental state while they were committing a crime.

The post on Reddit was also taken down on Friday, and the user account associated with it has been suspended.

Moscow, Idaho is only a few miles away from the campus of Washington State University, which specializes in criminal justice and criminology, where a student with the same name is pursuing a doctoral degree. Washington State University is located in Washington.

The unexplained nature of the circumstances surrounding their murders attracted attention on a national scale, leading to the police in Moscow following up on thousands of leads and debunking conspiracy theories hatched by online sleuths.

The investigation was opened when law enforcement officials solicited the general public for assistance in locating a white automobile that had been observed in the area of the residence around the time of the slayings.

At four o’clock Eastern Time (ET), the police department in Moscow will hold a press conference to provide an update.
