Suspect detained after reports of armed person at Indiana University Bloomington

IUB update: Police has the suspect detained and has confirmed there is no threat to the campus. Resume normal operations.

IUPD are in the area of 3rd St., Fess and Indiana searching for a white male with a large build wearing a dark hoodie. Subject carrying large object. Stay clear of area.

Students at Indiana University Bloomington received an alert from IU Notify Bloomington at around 9:50 p.m. informing them of an armed individual on campus.

According to the alert, the person was reportedly in the vicinity of 3rd Street and Faculty Avenue.

The message advised students to trust their instincts and seek safe shelter in the nearest available room if they were on campus.

They were instructed to lock doors if possible and stay put until they receive a final IU Notify update or law enforcement provides other instructions.

The alert also urged anyone with information about the armed individual to call 911.
