Chicago Police Department responded after the reports of an active shooter at Jones College Prep

A number of different law enforcement organizations are reacting to a complaint of an active shooter at Jones College Prep.

Multiple officers were dispatched to the location to conduct investigations.

As at the time of this report, there has been neither confirmation nor identification of any victims.

Jones College Prep issued the following statement:

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

We are emailing to let you know that a short while ago, we received an anonymous call to our school.

The caller made threatening statements and we immediately contacted the Office of Safety and Security, who in turn notified the Chicago Police Department.

We also immediately called a soft lockdown to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

An investigation is underway with CPD to assess the situation.

We will remain on soft lockdown until we receive an all clear.

Please be aware that this means that no one is currently allowed to enter or leave our school building.

We will send you another communication as soon as we have an update.
