According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a 23-year-old man was arrested on Friday in connection with the shooting death of a 29-year-old woman at a residence in Orange County.
The victim, Sierra Tikeshia Ashley Polson, was fatally shot on Thursday evening at a home located at 2517 Greenleaf Drive near Doncaster Road, off Forest City Road.
Polson was discovered by deputies responding to the incident and was transported to a hospital where she later died.
Investigators revealed that Polson and her boyfriend, Keyvon Daley, 23, had left the house together earlier that evening and returned later.
Polson had entered her bedroom, but moments later, Daley followed her into the room and a loud bang was heard by Polson’s mother who lived in the residence.
When Polson’s mother attempted to check on her daughter, Daley reportedly tried to prevent her from entering the room, as stated in an arrest report.
Despite Daley’s efforts to prevent her from entering, the mother was able to push her way into the room and discovered Polson lying unresponsive on the floor, according to detectives.
As per the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the mother accused Daley of shooting her daughter, and despite seeing a handgun sticking out of his pocket, she was unable to prevent him from fleeing the residence.
Daley later contacted Polson’s family to inquire about her condition, but after being informed of her death, he promptly hung up. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found a black cable wrapped around Polson’s neck.
Daley was eventually arrested and charged with first-degree murder. The sheriff’s office has disclosed that Daley had previously been arrested twice for domestic violence incidents in November 2022 and January 2023.
They are urging domestic violence victims to seek support from available resources in the county, such as Harbor House of Central Florida’s 24-hour crisis line, which can be contacted at 407-886-2856.
