In South Africa, Kimon Bisogno was attacked to death by a shark as her family paddled on the Plettenberg Bay yards away during an attack that “reddened the sea.”

The woman who was killed by a great white shark in South Africa while on vacation with her family has been identified.
Kimon Bisogno, 39, was the proprietor of a pizza restaurant in Cape Town, and she and her “love of her life,” Diego Milesi, 40, were spending the Bank Holiday weekend at a beach in Plettenberg Bay to get away from the stress of running their business.
After working hard to get their company back on its feet after the Covid earthquake, the couple took their daughter Luna, who is five years old, on a three-day vacation at the opulent Beacon Isle hotel complex located 300 miles from their home.
It was just before 8 a.m. yesterday when Kimon stepped into the sea for an early morning swim. According to reports, she was just in waist-deep water when the great white shark struck her via a wave while her family was standing just yards away.
According to eyewitnesses, the water around Kimon “turned crimson,” causing fellow swimmers to scream and run from the ocean. A desperate appeal for assistance was made to the local lifeboat, but it was deemed too risky for residents to enter the water.

Kimon’s body, covered in blood and floating in the water about fifty yards away from the spot where she was attacked, was discovered by the inshore craft that had been sent by the National Sea Rescue Institute.
The immediate assault was so severe that the rescue workers were forced to place the young mother’s critically injured body on a stretcher before returning to their base. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done to save her.
In addition to holding an inquest and providing trauma counseling for her family, forensic pathologists will do an autopsy on her body after she has passed away.
When the razor-sharp teeth of a great white shark cut an artery, the victim usually dies quickly from blood loss.
Because this was the second fatality to occur in the same paradisiacal resort in just three months and the third in the past 11 years, the beach was blocked and warning signs about sharks were put up.
