The Los Angeles Police Department issued a statement in which it claimed, “When a person accused of committing a crime expires, we do not present for filing consideration.”

According to a statement that was provided to FOX3, the Los Angeles Police Department has concluded its investigation into the car accident that left actress Anne Heche with a clinical diagnosis of brain death.

According to the statement, “effective immediately, there will be no additional investigative efforts made in relation to this matter.” “The gathering of any information or records that had been requested prior to this turn of events will still be done as a matter of formality as they come in and will be included in the overall case. When the time limit on investigating a person accused of committing a crime passes, we do not bring that person for file consideration.”

Before this statement, the Los Angeles Police Department was looking into whether or not Heche was driving under the influence of drugs because it was discovered that she had drugs in her system.

“Preliminary examination of the blood sample confirmed the presence of drugs,” police in Los Angeles stated at the time.

The incident was being investigated as a “criminal DUI crash.”

Last Friday, Heche, 53, slammed her car into a residence in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Mar Vista. According to her representative, she was certified brain-dead on Friday after sustaining an anoxic brain damage.

Coleman “Coley” Laffoon, who worked as a cameraman in Hollywood and used to be married to Heche, said he will always love and miss her in a video he posted on Instagram on Friday.

He told Heche about his son, “It’s hard for me, it’s hard for my family, and it’s really hard for Homer, but we’ve got each other and we have a lot of support, so we’ll be fine.”
