Los Angeles County deputy-involved shooting in Maywood left one person dead

A deputy shot and killed a man Thursday in Maywood, authorities said.

After a shooting that occurred on Thursday morning involving a deputy, Clarkson Avenue in Maywood was shut down so that an investigation could take place.

Just before six in the morning, a shooting involving a Los Angeles County sheriff’s officer was reported on the 6100 block of Clarkson Avenue in Maywood, close to Atlantic and Randolph. A suspect who was only identified as a male was later found deceased at the scene.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived not long after the gunfire was reported.

The deputies from the sheriff’s gang task team, Operation Safe Streets, were present at the incident. There were no reports of any injuries to the deputies.

During the investigation, Clarkson Avenue on the block was made unavailable to the public.
