Lawrence Griffin arrested and charged in connection to shooting death of Ronnell C.L. Smith

The second juvenile was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The West Allis Police Department, with assistance from the Milwaukee Police Department, has made an arrest in the homicide of Ronnell C.L. Smith.

Today, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office charged Lawrence Griffin (17 years of age), of Milwaukee, with one count of First Degree Intentional Homicide, Use of a Dangerous Weapon, one count of First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Use of a Dangerous Weapon and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

On Saturday, 02/25/23 at approximately 9:04 p.m., the West Allis Police Department’s Communications Center received several phone calls reporting gunshots in the area of the 5600 block of W. Lincoln Ave.

Upon arrival, officers learned that gunshots had been fired during a party being held at a tavern in the area. Officers located two juveniles struck by gunfire. Tragically one of the juveniles, a 12 year old male, died at the scene. The second juvenile was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

At this time, nobody has been taken into custody for this shooting. West Allis officers and detectives continue to investigate this incident.
