‘Leave it to Beaver’ Star Tony Dow Still Alive, Despite Statement Announcing Death

Dow’s team revealed to FOX3 that Lauren Shulkind, his devastated wife, “believed her husband was dead and informed his management.”
Dow, who disclosed the return of his disease on May 5, is currently receiving hospice care, according to his staff.
Tony Dow is still alive. Fox3 had a conversation with his wife, Lauren. She is understandably distraught and grief-stricken about what’s been going on with Tony’s health battle these past months. He’s been in hospice care at their home, and based on some health issues overnight, Lauren inferred that Tony had passed away to some people close to her and the word quickly spread. Lauren admits she’s been “a little fuzzy” these days–understandable.
She told us she now feels “foolish” about what has transpired since his death has been reported around the world. She also told us, through her pain, “it is of my own doing.” I told her we know it’s been a very stressful time and people understand overwhelming grief. Lauren says she “loves and adores” her husband of 42 years with all of her heart.
While she did say he passed, she now understands the miscommunication and is sorry for causing a commotion in this challenging time.
In a now-deleted Facebook post from early Tuesday, the actor’s management team said, “It is with a very heavy heart that we tell you that our beloved Tony passed away this morning.
“Tony was a kind, caring, funny, and humble person with a beautiful soul. It was a real pleasure to be near him. His soft voice and down-to-earth manner made you feel better right away, and you couldn’t help but love him.
“The world has lost a great person, but we are all better off because of the memories he left behind. From Wally Cleaver’s funny stories to those of us who were lucky enough to know him, thank you, Tony.
“And thank you for reminding us of simpler times, making us laugh, being our friend, and making us feel like you were our big brother. You will be missed.”
