In an official announcement, Elon Musk stated that Linda Yaccarino, who previously held the position of NBCUniversal’s top sales executive, has been appointed as the new CEO of Twitter.

Musk expressed his enthusiasm for this decision and tweeted, “I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will primarily focus on business operations while I concentrate on product design and new technology. I am looking forward to collaborating with Linda to convert this platform into X, the everything app.”

The announcement regarding Linda Yaccarino’s appointment as Twitter’s CEO was made one day following Elon Musk’s announcement that he had hired a new CEO who would assume the position in approximately six weeks, without disclosing their identity.

News reports had surfaced stating that Yaccarino, who served as NBCU’s Chairman for global advertising and partnerships, was in discussions to assume the role of Twitter’s CEO. On Friday, Yaccarino tendered her resignation from NBCU.

In December, Musk had indicated that he would step down as the CEO of Twitter once he found someone willing to take over the position.

Despite this, Musk, who serves as the CEO of both Tesla and SpaceX, will maintain control of the social media platform and continue to play an active role in its administration. Musk has renamed the parent company of Twitter as “X Corp.” in an official capacity.
