Maggie Dunn and Caroline Gill killed in crash after Addis police officer, David Cauthron ran a red light

Following a fatal collision that occurred during a police chase through numerous parishes on Saturday, December 31, an Addis police officer is facing charges and has been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to the officials, the pursuit started in Baton Rouge, continued into West Baton Rouge Parish, and finally ended on the highway back in Baton Rouge.

According to the authorities, the pursuit resulted in a collision on LA 1 in Brusly, which killed two teenagers and injured a passenger who was riding in the backseat. Maggie Dunn, 17, and Caroline Gill, 15, were both students at Brusly High School, according to the officials. Dunn was 17 years old and Gill was 15 years old.

District Attorney Tony Clayton has stated that his office is conducting an investigation into the activities of the Addis police as well as the officer’s role in the collision and pursuit.

David Cauthron was determined to be the officer in question. On the evening of Sunday, January 1, 9:45 p.m., he was taken into custody and placed into the WBR Parish Prison. He is charged with two charges of negligence homicide and one case of negligent injuring. Clayton stated that the bond for the officer has been established at the amount of $100,000.

According to Clayton, the Addis Police Chief Richard Anderson informed him that the officer is currently on administrative leave. In addition to this, at the end of this month, Clayton intends to hold a grand jury hearing to investigate the officer’s activities.
