A message alerting California State University Northridge students, staff and faculty of a possible man armed with a gun inside a car on campus went out a few minutes ago.

CSUN Police UPDATE: ALL CLEAR. The report of an individual with a gun on campus was determined to be unfounded.
No threat has been identified on or around campus.
The campus is open and operational.
Initial Report:
Anyone on campus is asked to shelter in place, according to the CSUN-issued alert.
Those in a parking lot are asked to immediately leave and those not on campus are asked to stay away for now, the alert said.
California State University Police: There is an individual reported to have a gun in his car on campus. If you are in a campus parking lot – leave now. If you are on campus, please shelter in place. All others are advised to stay away from campus until further notice.
Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
