20-year-old attacked with a machete in South Bay

Authorities say a 20-year-old male was attacked with a machete in the South Bay early Monday morning.

The 20-year-old victim was attending a meeting in the 3000 block of Magellan Street in the Otay Mesa West area at 3:40 a.m. Monday when he was informed that his automobile was being tampered with, according to San Diego Police Department officials.

The victim, whose name has not been released, went outside to check on his car and talk to the suspect. During the conversation, the unidentified suspect pulled out a machete and cut the victim several times with it before running away.

The person was sent to a neighboring hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The victim’s condition is yet unknown.

The sole identifying feature provided by authorities was that the suspect wore just grey during the incident.

The case is still under investigation by San Diego Police Department officers.
