Lover’s Point Beach shark attack: Man hospitalized in Monterey Bay with major bite injuries to stomach and leg

On Wednesday morning, a shark may have bitten a person near Lovers Point Beach.

A surfer was allegedly attacked around 11 a.m. near Lovers Point, according to Pacific Grove city councilman Joe Amelia.

It was reported that the surfer sustained serious injuries to his stomach and leg. He was sent to the hospital, where he is currently being treated.

When witnesses saw a shark in the water, they thought it was a result of an attack by sharks. The beach was shut down.

Lovers Point Beach has been closed by police until the outcome of the investigation.

Following a shark attack at Lovers Point this morning, the Monterey Herald reported that all Pacific Grove beaches will be restricted for at least 48 hours.
