Man killed in suspected gator attack at John S. Taylor Park in Largo

Man dies after being bitten by alligator at John S. Taylor Park in Largo

In Florida, police say a man died while looking for Frisbees in a lake at a disc golf course where signs warn people to watch out for alligators.

In an email Tuesday, the Largo Police Department stated that “a gator was involved” in the search for Frisbees and other discs in the water. There were no other details revealed at the time.

Trappers have been dispatched to Taylor Lake, a 153-acre (62-hectare) section of the John S. Taylor Park in Largo, a St. Petersburg suburb.

Visitors can “experience the sport of disc golf on a course located in the natural splendor of this park,” according to the park’s official website. There are no-swimming signs all along the lake’s shoreline, so participants must stay on the path.

People are now being warned to stay away from the lake as police continue their investigation.
