In the Bronx, a man was shot in the head while refueling his vehicle overnight. The incident took place just before 1 a.m. at a Gulf station situated off Webster Avenue in Tremont.
According to the authorities, while the 51-year-old man was pumping gas, he was approached by someone who attempted to rob him.
During the encounter, a scuffle broke out, and the victim sprayed the perpetrator with gasoline before being shot in the head. Fortunately, the victim managed to run to the gas station for safety, as one person in the neighborhood informed FOX3.
The investigators blocked off the gas station, where a white Range Rover was seen with its gas tank open, and the pump was lying on the ground. A team of Dunkin’ Donuts staff arrived early for work only to discover a crime scene.
They stated that this was the first time they had witnessed a shooting at the gas station. “Other days it’s good, this area, and the people are good, but I don’t know what happened today,” said one employee.
The victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital and is currently in critical but stable condition.
The authorities confirmed that the suspect fled south on Webster Avenue.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). You can also submit a tip via their website or via DM on Twitter, @NYPDTips. All calls are kept confidential.
