Man shot in Northwest DC outside of a Coolidge High School

Coolidge, Ida B Wells and Whittier on lockdown

D.C. Police are at the scene of a shooting near Coolidge High School in Northwest. The incident prompted lockdowns of schools in the area.

Monday afternoon, a man was shot in Northwest D.C. near three D.C. Public Schools (DCPS).

Shooting Investigation in the 500 block of Somerset Place, NW. No lookout.

When cops arrived at the scene of the shooting, they discovered the victim alive and breathing. He has been transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.

According to DCPS, the incident resulted in the implementation of lockdown procedures at Coolidge High School, Ida B. Wells Middle School, and Whittier Elementary School. As of 4:20 o’clock in the afternoon, they have since been lifted, and the students have been sent home.
