Matthew Hemsley is feared dead after vanishing in Brazil
Matthew Hemsley believed to be dead has been missing in Brazil for almost a month after his girlfriend received chilling texts.

Matthew Hemsley believed to be dead has been missing in Brazil for almost a month after his girlfriend received chilling texts.

Matthew Hemsley, who was 35 years old and originally from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, vanished on May 28 after leaving his home in Candeias, which is located in the state of Bahia.
His father, Mike, who is 71 years old, told FOX3 that he had heard stories that his son was killed by a gang, but that it was unclear what the reason was.
In relation to this incident, the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) is in communication with the local police.
After relocating to Brazil approximately seven years ago, Matthew Hemsley made his home on a modest farm.

The last time anyone saw him, he was having supper at a neighborhood tavern named Rosagela’s with a neighbor before walking home. After leaving a voicemail for his friend, he vanished without a trace and was never seen or heard from again.
His pregnant fiancée, who was staying with her mother at the time of the abduction, allegedly got concerning text messages four days later, according to his father.
Mike Hemsley said: “She received texts asking her whether or not she was aware that her husband had been murdered. What steps are you doing to ensure that justice is served?”
FOX3 News has been told that police have arrested a man for an unrelated offence, and that the individual has admitted to having seen members of the gang murder Matthew, but the FOX3 has not yet verified this information.
The local region has been thoroughly searched by the police, and they are still seeking for additional potential culprits. Interpol has also been made aware of the situation.
The passport that Matthew had been carrying was located on the farm, and since he had been missing, his bank account had not been accessed.
According to what Mike Hemsley has stated, “There is no rationale at the moment, and regrettably it may have been robbery or any variety of purposes, but it is not known at this stage.”
He continued, saying, “It is a really strange sensation to have lost your son. That doesn’t sit well with me at all. I am struggling. Things look so insignificant right now.
“[The finding of a body] would provide some sort of resolution. Its location must be known by someone.
It might help me to stop feeling guilty about the fact that he wouldn’t have been outside if I had realized he lived in such a lawless area.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCDO) has issued the following statement through a spokesperson: “We are giving consular support to the family of a British man who was reported as missing in the state of Bahia, Brazil, and are in communication with the local authorities.”
