Meagan Kennedy Stanford shot and killed during carjacking at Shell Gas Station at State Route 61 and Interstate 71

On February 26, 2023 at approximately 6:57 PM the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting at the Shell Gas Station at State Route 61 and Interstate 71.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the alleged suspect who was identified as Keith Moser of Columbus OH allegedly attempted to steal a car on the NB off ramp of SR 61 and I-71, resulting in shots being fired at the car.

The alleged suspect then went to the Shell Gas Station and allegedly attempted to steal a mini van that was pumping gas. Shots were fired and a female victim was struck, the female victim was identified as Meagan Kennedy Stanford of Greenville SC. Ms. Kennedy Stanford succumbed to her injuries on scene.

The alleged suspect then turned and fired at a U-Haul van that was driven by a male occupant. The male occupant was able to return fire, a fight ensued involving multiple people. The alleged suspect died on scene of apparent gunshot wounds.

According to a friend of Stanford who spoke to FOX3, she and her son had stopped to refuel on Sunday evening as they were relocating to Ohio. Although her son was not injured, the ordeal he witnessed is unimaginable.

This matter remains under investigation by the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office.
