Mercy Hospital – Unity Campus on lockdown after reports of shooting nearby

Authorities are conducting a search in the vicinity of Unity Hospital, specifically near Highway 47 & Osborne Rd. NE, for a suspect involved in a shooting incident that occurred in a hallway of an apartment building.

Witnesses stated that they heard two gunshots shortly before 3 p.m. within the apartment, and the victim who was shot was later found walking into the emergency room.

Although a suspect description was not broadcasted, it is possible that the individual identified may have left as a passenger in a white 2001 Ford Explorer registered under the gunman’s sister’s name.

The incident of the initial shooting occurred at Highland Park Apartments, specifically in the 600 block of Osborne Rd.

Woodcrest Spanish Immersion School, located just east of the apartment, has issued a message stating that all students and staff will stay indoors until they receive clearance from the police to proceed with the usual dismissal and boarding of buses.

Parents who prefer to pick up their children have the option to do so by visiting the school, and law enforcement will be present at the premises until the dismissal process is complete.
