Michael Hence and Quentin Branch, both students at Curtis Elementary School, have been identified as the two teenagers that were killed in the shooting that took place in Roseland.

At around 6:40 in the morning on November 17th, 2022, officers of the Chicago Police Department responded to reports of shots being fired in the vicinity of 114th and Calumet. They discovered two teenage boys who had been shot inside the house when they arrived.

Michael Hence, who was 13 years old at the time, was shot in the chest and the neck. He was transported to Comer’s Children Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries. Quentin Branch, who was 13 years old, was found to have a gunshot wound to the head, and he was pronounced dead at the site.

According to neighbors, they were awakened by the sounds of gunfire and a vehicle driving away. They also mention the possibility that the house has been deserted.

Both children went to Curtis Elementary School, which is located at 115th and State. Quentin was in the eighth grade, while Michael was in the seventh grade. The school district communicated with staff and parents through email, citing their concerns “During this sad time, our prayers are with the families of the victims. The school as a whole, and our students in particular, are sure to experience a wide range of feelings, worries, and questions as a result of the losses. We are heartbroken by these losses and promise to do all in our power to assist both you and your pupils “.

Students have access to mental health professionals such as psychologists, social workers, and counselors.

As area 2 detectives continue their investigation, the Chicago Police Department does not currently have any suspects in custody.
