The boy who died in a shooting Tuesday night outside Castleton Square Mall has been identified as Michael Mason Jr., 16.

Police said that a shooting that occurred on Tuesday night at Castleton Square Mall resulted in the death of a 16-year-old kid and left another guy hospitalized in stable condition.
Castleton Square Mall is located at 6020 E. 82nd Street, and just after 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received a call that a person had been shot there. Officers were dispatched to the mall at that address. The injured youngster and man were found in the parking lot by the responding cops. The boy’s injuries were consistent with gunshot wounds, and the guy’s injuries were also consistent with gunshot wounds.
The incident took the life of Michael Mason Jr., who was 16 years old.
Both he and the other man went to St. Vincent Hospital for treatment. When Mason was rushed to the hospital, he was in a severe condition; he later passed away there.
The police are currently speaking with a person of interest in connection with the shooting who is cooperating with them.
The investigation indicates that a fight in the parking lot preceded the shooting that occurred there. It was not immediately clear what the relationships were between the three individuals who got into the brawl.
The incident took place near the south entrance of the shopping center, close to both Forever 21 and H&M.
According to the police, the shopping center was evacuated.
