One person shot in parking lot of Sonic near Garland ISD high school
Garland Police are investigating a shooting in the 3300 Block of Broadway Blvd, at the Sonic Restaurant. There is a heavy police presence. Please avoid the area if possible. Area schools are on lockdown.

According to authorities, a Garland ISD campus was “protected” and an investigation was started after hearing about a shooting near a high school on Thursday afternoon.

Garland police officers responded to a shooting complaint in the 3300 block of Broadway Boulevard just after three o’clock.
South Garland High School was reportedly put under lockout, which meant that nobody was permitted on campus as police set up a perimeter close to the school, according to Garland ISD. The district claimed that it was lifted as soon as police gave them the all-clear.
An dispute between “two young people over a lady in the parking lot of a Sonic” allegedly led to shooting, according to a Garland police official.
When the police arrived, they discovered one male with a gunshot wound. His condition is currently unknown, according to police, who claimed he was taken to a nearby hospital.
According to Garland police, authorities are looking for the person who discharged the pistol. He is described as a Hispanic man with a short haircut, between the ages of 17 and 19. He was last seen with grey trousers and a grey hoodie, according to police.
Multiple schools were locked down for safety reasons. Schools have been released.
While the investigation is ongoing, police are requesting that locals stay away from the area.
