2 persons injured after shooting in Taneytown near Northwest Middle School
Officers and detectives are currently on scene conducting an investigation.

A shooting has reportedly occurred in Taneytown near Northwest Middle School.
No students or staff were involved. Local, county, and state police, along with aviation units, are on the scene.
On February 10th, 2023, at approximately 3:14pm, Taneytown Police officers responded to the 300 block of E Baltimore Street for the report of shots fired.
Once on scene, officers located two victims suffering from injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
The victims were transported by Maryland State Police Aviation units to shock trauma.
Taneytown Elementary& Northwest issued the following statement:
We have been made aware of a shooting that has taken place outside of Northwest Middle School. The shooting does not involve any students. Taneytown Elementary School and Northwest Middle School have been placed on SECURE meaning no one can enter the building and no one can leave the building. We are contacting the parents of the students still remaining in the school. We are working with law enforcement to facilitate a dismissal plan.
