Dwayne Haskins ‘dead at 24’: Steelers player ‘killed after being hit by car’ in South Florida weeks before birthday

According to reports, the quarterback signed a new contract with the team last week and was killed in an accident Saturday morning in South Florida.

Adam Schefter said Dwayne Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before becoming Washington’s first-round pick and playing in Pittsburgh, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida, per his agent Cedric Saunders.

Adam Schefter, an NFL insider, reports that the 24-year-old’s death comes just weeks before his birthday on May 3.

According to Schefter, at the time of his death, Haskins was training with some of the team’s quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers.

Haskins was a star player at Ohio State before playing for the Washington Redskins and Pittsburgh Pirates, eventually losing his place in the spotlight.

Haskins completed 60% of his passes, threw 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, and went 3-10 as a starter in both seasons.

Haskins signed a one-year contract last month with the Pittsburgh team for his second chance in the League.
