Police activity at American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey

Suspect in custody, found hiding in the marsh area.

Police are actively searching for a suspect involved in an incident within the mall.

Suspect threw a handgun during the chase; recovered by other Police.

Last seen Exit 16-W ramp at the Turnpike running into the woods. K-9 unit & Aviation requested.

There are no reports of any injuries at this time.

A user tweeted, “There was a man shooting a gun at American dream mall and the mall DIDN’T tell us workers anything what kind of shit is this wouldn’t let us leave I had to find out from people screaming and crying heard a few bangs thinking something fell”.
