Police responded after shots fired near Cole Elementary School
On Thursday morning, shots were fired in the area of Cole Elementary School in Antioch, and the Metro Police Department is conducting an investigation.

FOX3 was told by police officers who were present that there was an exchange of gunfire between two cars in the area of Cole Elementary School. Since then, officers have located one of the automobiles involved in the incident on Tusculum Road, where they discovered one occupant still inside the vehicle.
As a result of the gunfire, the school has reportedly been placed in lockdown mode, according to a representative for Metro Nashville Public Schools. Everyone at the school, including the faculty and staff, is safe, and there does not appear to be any damage to the structure of the school. There is no indication that the school was the intended target.
The Cole Elementary School is helping the authorities with their investigation and is cooperating fully. The school has been declared safe by the police, and the parents have been informed. MNPS reports that the lockdown has been lifted since it was implemented.
No other information was provided.
