Quante Donnell Wilder killed after shooting at Gatsby’s Pub on Burke Street in Winston-Salem
The suspect, Nehemiah Chandler, has been arrested and charged with murder.

Police report that a man, aged 35, was killed during a shooting on Burke Street in Winston-Salem on Monday.
The incident took place at Gatsby’s Pub, where a large group was fighting. The victim, Quante Donnell Wilder, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and unfortunately passed away despite efforts to save his life.
This marks the 13th homicide in Winston-Salem in 2023. A friend of Wilder, Idah Johnson, expressed her condolences on Facebook, calling Wilder a great dad and friend.
The neighboring pub, The Wrong Number, is closing on Monday night in response to the shooting.
On Thursday night, a portion of the proceeds from White Claw sales will be donated to Wilder’s family.
The suspect, Nehemiah Chandler, has been arrested and charged with murder, and is being held without bond at the Forsyth County Detention Center.
He is expected to appear in court on February 28th. The investigation has caused the closure of the 1100 block of Burke Street at the intersection of First Street and Burke Street, and police have not yet announced when the road will reopen.
Drivers are advised to use an alternate route.
