Multiple people dead including an off-duty cop, multiple others injured, in a shooting in the Hedingham neighborhood of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Update: After three hours, police have caught the person who shot and killed an off-duty officer Thursday afternoon.

FOX3 has been informed by a city source with a high level of authority that an off-duty police officer has been shot and killed. Hedingham is currently experiencing an active shooter situation.

The Raleigh Police Department is currently on the scene of an active shooting in the area of the Neuse River Greenway near Osprey Cove Drive and Bay Harbor Drive.

A significant number of police officers were sent to the scene of a shooting incident that took place in an east Raleigh neighborhood on Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 5:30 in the evening, a number of police vehicles and an ambulance were seen parked along Osprey Cove Drive in a residential area.

Initial reports indicate that a number of people have been shot at multiple locations in the eastern part of the city, including some people who have been seriously injured as a result of their injuries. The suspect has not been located, but the police are continuing their search.

Local news outlets are reporting that multiple people have been killed, and there are confirmed reports that the suspect was seen wearing camouflage and armed with a rifle. Despite these reports, the suspect is still at large.

The alleged shooter might be a young white male with a long gun who is still at large after the incident.

Behind residents’ homes in the Hedingham area, law enforcement officers were spotted roaming about.

Residents in the vicinity have been instructed to remain inside their homes and to immediately dial 911 if they notice anything or anyone that seems out of the ordinary.
