Rapper Lil Tjay Awake And Talking After New Jersey Shooting

Lil Tjay, a rapper who was shot numerous times, is recovering well and making major strides; even though he is still in the hospital, things are looking up.

Tjay is awake and alert, according to those familiar with his condition, and even speaks for himself, FOX3 reports. The most encouraging development is that his voice still sounds exactly the same when he speaks as it did prior to the horrible occurrence. Doctors recently removed his breathing tube.

According to our sources, Lil Tjay was shot several times, in the chest and neck region, and now that he can speak, police want to speak with him about the circumstances of the incident.

Mohamed Konate, the putative triggerman in the incident on June 22—about which we previously wrote—has since been detained. According to police, everything started after Konate allegedly attempted to rob Lil Tjay.

We contacted Tjay’s attorney, Dawn Florio, but she declined to comment on his health.
