Claremont Police Department responded to the reports of an active shooter at Stevens High School

A few moments ago we received a report of an active shooter at Stevens High School.
Just prior to receiving this report, we were notified by the New Hampshire State Police that several communities around the state were receiving hoax active shooter calls.
We treated this call as legitimate when it came in, and immediately responded to the area where the attack was said to be occurring.
Numerous Claremont Police Officers, NH State Troopers and Sullivan County Deputy Sheriffs responded and conducted a thorough search of the premises.
In conjunction with SHS administration, we were confident that no such threat existed and the lockdown was lifted.
All staff and students are safe and are back to their regular duties.
The false report is being investigated by Claremont Police Detectives, in collaboration with the NH Intelligence Center.
