Update: Authorities say the Selma Police Officer has died from his injuries after being shot several times by a wanted suspect with gang connections.

Officer was rushed to CRMC where he died from his injuries.
He’s been with the Selma Police Department for 2yrs.
11:45 am – Shots fired on Pine near Mitchell in Selma.
One Selma Police officer struck, transported to hospital. Condition is unknown.
One person of interest has been detained.
As a precaution, Eric White Elementary was placed on lock down.
Multiple agencies involved in investigation. Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigating agency.

Officers are on scene and in the area of an officer involved shooting.
Because to law enforcement activities in the vicinity on Tuesday afternoon, the Eric White Elementary School has been placed in lockdown mode.
The Selma Police Department informed the school that there was an ongoing search for a person in the area, so the school has been placed in lockdown mode.
The school has assured parents that their students are secure inside the building, and they intend to keep the doors shut until the area has been evacuated by the police.
Parents have been asked to refrain from going to the school until they receive further direction to do so.
Although it is uncertain why the suspect is wanted, Selma police officers, CHP officers, and Fresno County sheriff’s deputies are all present.
As at the time of this report, there has been neither confirmation nor identification of any victims.
Unconfirmed report says suspect has been captured.
Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
