Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies have cordoned off certain areas of The Shops at Palm Desert mall in order to investigate reports of a shooting that took place there.
According to the findings of the investigation conducted by the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station, there was a shootout between two automobiles that took place in the parking lot.
Following reports of gunfire in the 72000 block of Highway 111, deputies were sent to investigate the situation.
Because safety was a concern, the management made the decision to temporarily close one of the shops in the shopping center.
According to initial reports, multiple round casings were discovered in the parking lot close to JCPenney, which is directly across from Buffalo Wild Wings.
As the investigation continues, there is no new information that can be shared at this time.
No victims have been identified at this time.
Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
