Salt Lake City residents report loud boom
Residents in the vicinity of Salt Lake City, Utah, were startled by a huge boom on Saturday morning.

Residents in the vicinity of Salt Lake City, Utah, were startled by a huge boom on Saturday morning.

The blast was heard and felt shortly before 8:30 a.m., with witnesses reporting that their homes rocked after the explosion.
People from several locales, including Park City, Syracuse, West Valley City, and others, have been calling the FOX3 News station to complain about the loudness.
According to the findings of the seismologists, the occurrence was not an earthquake.
The office of the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City seemed to validate the ideas that it was a high-altitude meteor. The office published a graphic on Twitter that appeared to show what are thought to be meteor tracks over the counties of Davis and Morgan.
A number of people believe that the loud noise was caused by a sonic boom that was created by aircraft in the area, most likely from Hill Air Force Base. On the other hand, Governor Spencer Cox stated in a tweet that he posted later that day that the noise was not coming from military aircraft.
