The missing teenager, Samantha Humphrey, has been identified as the body that was retrieved from the Mohawk River in Schenectady last week, according to an announcement made by the police on Monday afternoon.
Samantha, who was 14 years old, went missing in the same area on November 25 while on her way to Riverside Park to meet with her former boyfriend.
Shortly after her disappearance, her jacket was found near the river in the vicinity of where she was last seen.
Last Wednesday afternoon, the authorities retrieved her body from the Mohawk River and informed her family that the search for Samantha had ended.
It was stated by the police that they would reveal details of the autopsy on Monday.
According to our findings, the body was discovered inside a shopping cart, but this has not been confirmed by the police. If this information is accurate, it suggests that the police are now handling a homicide investigation.
During the past three months, there have been no public statements from the police regarding any suspects.
