The Scottish singer-songwriter Rab Noakes, who was born in Cupar, Fife, passed away unexpectedly in the hospital, according to singer Barbara Dickson, who shared the news on social media..

He was a founding member of Stealers Wheel and a solo performer who put out more than 20 albums and appeared at events like Celtic Connections.
Noakes worked for the BBC as a senior music producer for many years before he established his own production company.
He worked frequently with other musicians, including Dickson, who referred to him as “my dear and old friend.” Dickson was one of the musicians with whom he collaborated.
In a tweet, she also said, “I am shocked. We liked a lot of the same things, like the Everly Brothers, the Flying Burrito Brothers, and songs, especially old-timey ones.
“Sleep well, Rab. May you rest in peace.”
Several other well-known people in Scotland’s arts scene also paid their respects.
Julie Fowlis, a Gaelic singer, described him as “an iconic and generous musician and a gentleman.” Being with him was always enjoyable and educational.
