Seven people killed in a shooting at birthday party in Kwazakhele in Gqeberha
A large number of bystanders looked on from a distance as the police took statements from potential witnesses.

Seven people have been killed in a shooting in Kwazakhele in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape. Four others have been wounded.
A group of friends were celebrating a birthday in the afternoon on Maqanda Road in Kwazakhele when gunmen burst into the yard and began firing. The celebration turned into a terrible evening.
A spokesperson for the police, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, stated late on Sunday night that the authorities were still gathering information in order to piece together the puzzle.
“We don’t have much information yet, but it was a mass shooting,” Naidu said.
“There was a birthday celebration going on inside the house, and the very next minute, individuals from the neighborhood came in, and there was firing.”
Officers and detectives are currently on scene conducting an investigation.
As at the time of this report, there has been neither confirmation nor identification of any victims.
No suspects have been identified, and there has been no information immediately released regarding any arrests.
“We want people to come forward with information,” Naidu said.
At least three dead were found lying in the yard, and inhabitants of the neighbourhood could be seen gathering outside and on the street.
Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
