Several injured after nine vehicles crash into 18-wheelers on I-10 in Louisiana

AT LEAST nine passenger vehicles and multiple 18-wheelers were involved in an accident on Interstate 10 in Louisiana, causing a traffic nightmare on Tuesday morning.

The first report of the nine-car pileup came in at around 1.30am on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge between Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
A pileup of multiple 18-wheelers and passenger vehicles closed traffic on the I-10 East at I-49 and on I-10 East at LA Hwy. 3000 exit at Ramah.
It’s unclear what caused the accident, but no major injuries were reported.
To accommodate the road repair work, officials set up a detour along I-49 northbound to US Hwy 190 eastbound.
The traffic on the I-10 was at a dead standstill for over five hours.
State troopers woke up drivers who had fallen asleep waiting for the highway to reopen, according to News 2.
A hazardous materials team was sent to the scene, but no leakage was reported.
