1 dead, 1 injured in Elizabethtown graduation shooting

One dead and another injured as ‘multiple gunmen’ open fire after argument at huge graduation party



On June 10, 2022 at 11:42 p.m. Bladen County 911 Center was notified of two individuals that had arrived at the Bladen County Hospital with gunshot wounds. The Elizabethtown Police Department was also called to assist with a large crowd that had gathered at the Hospital.
Upon arrival of Bladen County Sheriff’s Deputies it was discovered Eric L. Chancy of White Plains Church Road and Ronkira D. Lennon of Center Road had sustained gunshot wounds.
It was later discovered that a high school graduation party was taking place at the 100 block of White Plains Church Road with and unknown number of people present. An argument ensued resulting in gunfire. Based on the number of shell casing recovered at the scene there were multiple shooters.
Eric L. Chancy succumbed to his wounds, Ronkira D. Lennon was later released.
According to Sheriff James McVicker, the incident occurred at a high school graduation party that was in process when an altercation broke out, which was followed by the firing of firearms.
The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office is aggressively investigating the incident.
