Schererville police shoot suspect who rammed squad car after robbery at Dick’s Sporting Goods

At approximately 4:30 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2022 Schererville Police Officer’s responded to a call of a robbery at the Dick’s Sporting Goods store located at 101 Indianapolis Boulevard, according to Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr.
Three suspects were attempting to leave the scene as Schererville Police arrived and one of the suspects driving a getaway car rammed a Schererville Police patrol vehicle. Fearing for their safety, Schererville police opened fire striking one of the suspects.
The wounded subject was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Two other suspects were taken into custody.




No police officers or other civilians were injured.
Lake County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
