One dead in shooting outside Frontier Mall in Cheyenne, Suspect Cody Nicholson in custody

UPDATE 8:45 PM: Nicholson located at Logan & 15th Street and has been taken into custody. Officers do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community.

He was on the run for approximately two hours.

Police have identified the pictured individual, Cody Nicholson, 18, of Cheyenne as a person of interest.

He was last seen wearing a grey and black sweatshirt and black pants.

He is considered armed and dangerous.

Initial Report:

The victim in the frontier mall shooting is a 17-year-old girl. The suspect is a male with blond hair, wearing light blue Jeans baseball cap with light gray shirt.

The shooting victim, according to a large number of bystanders gathered outside the crime scene, was a young woman who had been transported to the hospital in an ambulance.

A number of different law enforcement organizations are reacting to a report of shots fired in the area of Frontier Mall located at 1400 Dell Range Boulevard in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Officers and detectives are currently on scene conducting an investigation.

According to CPD spokesperson Alex Farkas, a call about a shooting “in the area of the mall” came in about 6 p.m. She acknowledged that there had been a shooting and that the shooter was still at large, but she refused to give any details about the culprit or to say whether a description was available.

According to sources, shots have been fired in the parking lot.

Suspect fled from the scene.

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
