Three people were reportedly shot in the parking lot of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, prompting a heavy police presence.
The Six Flags Great America amusement park in Gurnee, Illinois, revealed that three individuals were hurt in a gunshot that occurred in the parking lot on Sunday night.
Rachel Kendziora, a communication specialist for the park, stated that the rounds were fired from a single car, which then drove away “quickly” after the incident.
Two individuals were brought to the hospital upon prompt response from emergency personnel. Kendziora stated that a third injured person denied care.
Kendziora said park security and Gurnee police reacted immediately. Gurnee police and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded Sunday night.
FOX3 was told by Lake County Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli that there is “no indication at this moment that it is an active shooter.”
Kendziora stated that as a result of the gunshot, the park closed earlier than normal.

Laurie Walker and her daughter Grace, both of whom were there in the park at the time of the shooting event, spoke with FOX3 about their experiences. Walker stated that they were in the southwest region of the park waiting in line for the “Ricochet” at approximately 7:50 p.m. when she spotted people rushing in a panic throughout the park.
Someone shouted, “There is an active shooter, get down, get down,” as Walker recalls. We had no idea what was happening, so we sat down.
Walker and her kid hopped across two fences so that she could phone her husband while being “out of plain view.” Walker claims that after a brief period of concealment, she was able to exit the park.
