1 dead, 2 in critical after small plane goes down near Long Island in North Lindenhurst

It is believed that all three victims were aboard the plane at the time of the crash.

According to local and federal aviation officials, a small plane crash occurred on Long Island on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the death of one person and critical injuries to at least two others.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that a single-engine Piper PA 28 crashed in North Lindenhurst at approximately 3 p.m. while it was approaching Republic Airport in Farmingdale.

It is believed that all three victims were aboard the plane at the time of the crash.

Fortunately, there were no injuries to individuals on the ground, as confirmed by Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Shaffer.

The two injured individuals were transported by a police helicopter to Stony Brook Hospital.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will conduct an investigation into the crash, including determining the cause of the accident.
