Update: PSO has thoroughly searched the Sunlake campus and no suspicious person was found. Sunlake High School and Rushe Middle School are returning to normal operations at this time. An increased law enforcement presence will remain at the campus for the rest of the day out of an abundance of caution.
Sunlake High School and Rushe Middle School in Land O’ Lakes are currently on a controlled campus status after Pasco Sheriff’s Office received a tip regarding a suspicious person on Sunlake’s campus, who possibly has a weapon.
Deputies are on scene investigating and additional information will be provided when available.
Imagine School at Land O Lakes issued the following statement:
Good morning. We are on controlled campus. No threat at ISLOL however there is police activity on Sunlake. Our kids are safe. They are learning. We repeat – No threat on our campus.
There is a threat in the area. We are not releasing students from the building until an all clear is given. The area around the school is currently hosting police and is not safe for travel. Kids are safe inside. They are in classes.
Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
