Suspect Richard Dale Crum arrested after 6 people were killed in Tate County
6 shot, killed in Tate County; suspect in custody

On Friday, a series of shootings took place in the Arkabutla community of Tate County, resulting in the deaths of six people, as confirmed by Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance.
The first shooting occurred outside a store on Arkabutla Road at approximately 11 a.m., where a man was fatally shot. Inside a home on Bend Road, a woman was also killed, and her husband sustained injuries, although it appeared that he was hit by an object rather than shot.
According to the injured man, he and his wife did not know the person who attacked them. The suspect was later found by deputies in a vehicle on Arkabutla Dam Road and taken into custody without any issue.
Deputies later discovered four more individuals who had been killed – two were found inside a home, and the other two were found outside on Arkabutla Dam Road, not far from the suspect’s residence.
The suspect has been identified as 52-year-old Richard Dale Crum and has been charged with first-degree murder.
The investigation has been aided by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, and Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves took to social media to request prayers.
This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
