According to the Michigan State Police, they responded to a request from the Westland Police Department to assist with the investigation into the shooting that took place at the Palmer Road Baptist Church.
The Massachusetts State Police have reported that one person was shot and is currently being held in custody. Additionally, they have stated that their office will undertake a special investigation into the shooting.
The church can be found directly across the street from Adams Middle School, which had a brief lockdown during the incident.
A spokesman for the school stated that the lockdown had been removed, and that all children were released according to the regular school schedule.
According to the spokesperson, the lockdown had been requested by the police as a precaution.
