Cops are looking into whether a group of people were in the Bronx apartment lobby – playing around with a gun – when it accidentally went off, striking Jacob Borbin.

The death of a 14-year-old child was the result of an unintentional shooting that took place on Thursday in the lobby of an apartment building in the Bronx. The authorities have stated that they are investigating if the youngster and his pals were playing with the gun when it went off.

Police said the 14-year-old boy, Jacob Borbin, was shot in the chest just after 1 a.m. in the lobby of a building on East 194th Street and Briggs Avenue in Fordham Manor.

Borbin, who resides more than two miles away in the Morris Park area, was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital, according to authorities.

Police stated that investigators are examining the likelihood that a group of people were playing with the gun in the lobby when the fatal shot was fired and struck the adolescent.

There were not any arrests made straight away.

A fatal shooting occurred early this morning in the Fordham Heights neighborhood of the Bronx, according to a tweet sent out by the Borough President of the Bronx, Vanessa Gibson. “There are inquiries being made at this time.”

“A mother got the worst possible phone call that her child had died,” she wrote. “It’s just crazy, and it happens way too often. Please pray for them.”
