The National Weather Service has put out a tornado warning for five counties in the middle of North Carolina.

The tornado warning that started at 4:06 p.m. will last until 4:45 p.m. in southern Granville County, northeastern Wake County, southeast Durham County, and northwest Franklin County.

The National Weather Service found a severe thunderstorm that could cause a tornado near Durham. This is why a tornado warning has been issued.

People in these areas are advised to seek shelter in a basement or inside room on the lowest floor of a substantial building, according to the NWS.
